ROOTY: Are you headed alone? RANDOMME: I already have Michael and Courtney, can you please hand me one of your brothers? ROOTY: I have AJ, Randy is operating a base in his bedroom to see how the operation will run. RANDOMME: Thanks. I'm hitting up Takiona too.

MARCUS: Welcome, tourists, to Svalbard. RANDOMME: We aren't even tourists. MARCUS: Oh, right. So why are you here? RANDOMME: Me and a group of merbuddies are here as a stopover location before heading over to London to defeat DAXK. And some of my other merman and merbear buddies are headed to New York and Singapore MARCUS: We here in Svalbard have been living a painful life of sustenance, and what the merpeople bring forth to Longyearbyen isn't enough. Svalbard is still a safe location, but we don't want to open the seed vault to the external world. And if we do that, DAXK will just deplete our suppliesS. MICHAEL: How many of you are here? MARCUS: In Svalbard we have a population of 1865 total. As well as some refugees from the UK, Norway and Iceland. But I think the population is too big for a free area. DAXK controls much of the world and is in theory and in practice one entity that acts as if they were the only country. And small, isolated territories like ours have since become independent countries because they don't know about our location. RANDOMME: Do you pick up dispatches from Kerguelen? MARCUS: Sadly due to the disruptions of telecommunications in the surface world, coupled by the slow speed of the flow of information in the merworld, it takes us up to five days to pick up a basic debrief from there. RANDOMME: Awesome(ly boring). Now let's head over to the lodge. (Marcus looks at AJ) MARCUS: Oh, a brown merbear! Are you American? AJ: I was until I moved to the merworld (shows picture of AJ and Rooty when they lived in the surface world in Lexington)

(at the lodge) MARCUS: Seeing that you are in a stopover, I already built amenities ages ago and now I present them to guests for the first time. There are eight beds, adaptable for merpeople, since you are four and with me that makes five, by the end of your stay three of the beds will be in pristine condition. The TV only picks up an improvised NRK service. They only broadcast half an hour a day in Norwegian airing mostly translated information from the debriefs. Other than that there is a folder with a bunch of American TV shows from the 2000s that were donated to me as a reminder of the world that used to be free. I smuggled these before the DAXK takeover. There are two radio stations: NRK and Arctic Outpost. The former broadcasts in Norwegian and English and the latter doesn't broadcast news at all, as they were instructed by the Norwegian Government in Exile. Since then they stopped caring about just oldies because of the refugees coming in. The computer is linked to the interwet, the merworld's internet, with privileged information. Sadly it's almost impossible to receive signals from the merworld, I just get excerpts flowing in. RANDOMME: Buddies, welcome to Central Command. (RandomMe shows his VIP room) MARCUS: RandomMe is our privileged guest and he is taking the main room. With that he will talk to the merworld. RANDOMME: Yeah it's AJ's brother Randy. At any minute now I'm expecting a chat with him. AJ: And he told us he was goung to talk to Rooty, how can we talk to him? RANDOMME: Randy has a strong intercom system. Certainly it reaches Svallbard.

(Kerguelen, February 6, 2023, 16:41:25 local time)
ANNOUNCER: And now a debrief collected illegally from data smugglers.
It appears that famines have hit certain parts of the world controlled by DAXK, leading to hundreds of millions of deaths. The famines are more prevalent in much of central and eastern China, where sketchy estimates say up to 20 million people died. Dissent of the DAXK regime is forbidden in the controlled areas.
Outside of China, there are also famines in northern Nigeria, some areas of Ethiopia and Somalia, and in the south-east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
DAXK has banned certain languages from being spoken in public. It's no surprise that the three DAXK centers are located in countries where English is spoken.
Meanwhile, the Japanese expedition has went far up to the Bonin Islands, ignored by the DAXK empire, and further west to the Daito Islands. Okinawa is still under DAXK control due to there being a stronghold in Naha.
The Japanese government is now convening in Chichijima as the Japanese Empire in Exile.
We just hope this whole DAXK affair will end this year.

(RandomMe receives a notification) RANDOMME: "Dispatch from the merworld". Sounds intriguing.
"Japan reformed in Chichijima"
"Famines hit countries that before DAXK were infamous for their lack of liberties"
"Possible new United Nations to form in Hanga Roa?"
Oh and something intriguing: "How to survive a quake when DAXK has cut off foreign aid"
(checks inside of article)
"It seems that DAXK hasn't provided basic aid packages to areas hardly hit by the quake this Monday in the Middle East. One of our correspondents near Cairo swam all the way to the affected areas in Turkey. There has been no aid yet."
Sadly this is what they want. But I'm headed to London. If only it was easier to restore the pre-DAXK way of life.
And if only it was easier to defeat Gremlin.

RANDY: Is Svalbard working? RANDOMME: Randy, it's me. RANDY: Svalbard! RANDOMME: Listen: in a few days I am headed towards London. Do you have any idea about Rooty's whereabouts? RANDY: Last time I checked he was in Navassa but likely swam near Bermuda. Bermuda is occupied. RANDOMME: Listen, I know we're a little down on motivation, but do you have any debriefs? RANDY: Just checking. I think the DAXK agents will undergo a level of maintenance this weekend. That's the perfect time for the combined attack. RANDOMME: Alright! RANDY: Well, almost. Unless you enter that building you went a few times already. DAXK has shut down the teleport protocols because directly entering the DAXK territories from the free territories is considered illegal to them. RANDOMME: There are a few disguises, going to take them to London. RANDY: Good luck with that. RANDOMME: Over and out.

RANDOMME: Ready to go to London? Michael? AJ? Courtney? (sees note) "RandomMe, you need to copy all of the dispatches to an external drive. Michael. PS: we are likely asleep before we start our journey to London on Monday."

RANDOMME: Day 10.
It seems that a snowstorm caused us to remain inside the facility.
I just don't know when are we set to leave.
The safest place closest to London is actually an underwater field near Sealand.

RANDOMME: Our verdict has come: tomorrow we'll be headed for Sealand! AJ: Why Sealand? RANDOMME: It's close to London where DAXK is, and we will be near the platform!

(Hanga Roa, February 19th, 2023, 16:48:30 local time)
(bilateral ham radio reception between Hanga Roa and the Galapagos)
JUAN CARLOS: Signal coming clear? CORREA: I can hear you. Is this a broadcast from afar? JUAN CARLOS: Juan Carlos, Easter Island. And you? CORREA: Correa, Galapagos Islands. The islands are untouched by DAXK and are part of the "free world". Very few people have exiled from the Ecuatorean mainland and we host the Ecuatorian Government in Exile. JUAN CARLOS: We are exiled Chileans. Can we start the Pacific Union of Free States? CORREA: We can form some sort of regional framework linked to the International Union of Free States.

LINCOLN FARLEY: Hiya RANDOMME: Lincoln Farley? What are you doing here at the Sealand Merport? LINCOLN FARLEY: I was waiting for your ammunition. RANDOMME: I don't have an ammunition! LINCOLN FARLEY: Do you mean "motivation"? RANDOMME: Better rest here for a couple of days.
