Discovery Family Europe launched on January 01, 2020 in Central and Eastern Europe, and in the Balkan on January 02, 2020. The channel is a European adaptation of the channel with the same name in the USA, the channel was announced in July 2019 and was set to start broadcasting on December 21, 2019. But due to complications with TV providers, the launch was pushed back.
The channel is divided into 3 groups, Central Europe, Eastern Europe and Balkan. Due to complications, the Balkan version launched one day later. The channel is ad-free and currently doesn't air any promos, except for channel bumpers before and after the shows. The channel has stated that they will install international-made promos soon. All of the channels' international dubs are done by SDI Media, or another high-standard studio. Discovery Family's main focus is to bring "quality" entertainment in Europe.
All of the channel's programming has also previously aired and/or is currently airing on the American variant, except for a few new acquired shows, like She-Ra amd the Princesses of Power and Glitter Force.

The history of Boomerang (Balkan)
In 2002, Maramania Media launched a Balkan variant of Turner's Boomerang channel. The channel launched with Serbian, Croatian and Slovenian audio, and later expanded with Albanian and Macedonian in 2003. The channel was not authorised by Turner EMEA, and most of the content did not come from Turner, and rather had productions that were not produced by Turner. During the ownership of Maramania Media, the company acquired Winx Club and commisioned Serbian, Croatian, Albanian and Macedonian dubs for their Boomerang channel in 2005. At the time, no recording studio that specifically focused on dubbing media into the Macedonian language existed. Which resulted in, Maramania commisioning a voice-over dub from a studio located in Russia. Not a lot information is known about the dub, as the dub hasn't been properly archived and has become partial lost media. From the information, that was stated in public reactions, the language in the dub was very hard to understand and the Russian accents were very thick. The lingusic quality has also been criticized, as the script was very literal and made little sense. After public outrage, Maramania started commsioning a voice-over dub version from Virgina-based studio "Graffiti Studio" which would produce a dubbed version for season 2 onwards. After Maramania lost the ownership of the Boomerang channel in a legal battle, Turner was left with several assets that Maramania acquired, and has decided to continue the dubbing process for Winx Club, while other properties were dropped. Turner EMEA has also stated in a press release, that they would be looking forward to produce a fully dubbed version of Winx Club in Macedonian and Slovenian, in the future. During 2012, Turner EMEA has announced that they have acquired the fifth season of Winx Club, and have already commisioned a fully dubbed version of the season in Macedonian and Slovenian, which would be broadcast in 2013. Some actors from the previous seasons have returned, while completely new actors have also joined the cast. The Macedonian version consisted of all 26 episodes, while the Slovenian version stopped after the 10th episode, due to unknown reasons. The rest of the episodes, had the English dub on the Slovenian audio track. Turner EMEA has never stated, why the Slovenian dub abruptly ended. Starting from 2014, the Serbian, Croatian, Albanian, Slovenian and Macedonian audio tracks were removed from the channel. As part of Boomerang's rebranding process, Turner EMEA stated that the audio tracks would temporarily be removed. Subtitles were introduced on the channel, and served as a substitute for the missing audo tracks. Winx Club was removed from the channel's schedule for a few months after the rebranding was introduced. During the rebranding process, Winx Club was advertised as a "brand new series" on the channel, while the series has been airing for years, prior to this statement on the same channel. Clips from the sixth and seventh season were also included in the promo, which were rumored to have been acquired by Turner, and would receive dubbed versions in the future. Both of the seasons, were never aired and only episodes from season 5 that were broadcast before were aired. On October 21, 2015, the Boomerang Balkan channel merged with the Russian feed of the Boomerang channel. Turned has stated, that the Boomerang channel has failed to enter the Balkan terrority, and has initally shut down the original channel. The license for Winx Club was ultimately halted, and the Macedonian version was left with the first five seasons being dubbed, while the rest of the series did not receive a dubbed version, until Sitel Televizija acquired the brand in 2017 and produced an entire dub of the series. During a press conference in 2017, Turner appearently stated that the Slovenian dub did not meet their quaiity standards during the fifth season, and has dropped the dub, leaving the Slovenian audio track with no localization of the series. This was also the case for the Macedonian voice-over, that was produced for s1-s4. Which initially led Turner to refuse brodcasting the first seasons, as they did not have enough time to produce new dubs for old material. Turner EMEA did own the assets for S6-S7, as those were delivered in the same package as S5. Graffiti Studio has also responded to the sudden removal of the channel. Graffiti Studio has stated that, Turner EMEA did not renew their contract after it expired in 2014. Instead, most of the assets were sent to Studio Klarion, for them to produce localized versions of their acquired media. Turner has allegedly stated, that Graffiti Studio did not fulfill their expectations, and was looking forward, to co-operate with wealthier studios, after receiving financial support for the channel in late 2014. After a lot of trials, Turner has decided that they would shut down the channel in 2015, as the viewer share did not meet their expectations, and that money would be wasted, if the channel continued to operate.
