RANDOMME ENTERTAINMENT CELEBRATES THIRTEEN YEARS WITH HOMESTAR RUNNERI honestly discovered Homestar Runner by accident. The two times before were just an illusion, far from being aware of what it was, and far from realizing that Homestar Runner would have a lasting impact on my life. In the summer of 2005, having discovered some British TV websites by mistake, one of the websites I used to go regularly was Afternoon Programmes Follow Shortly (APFS) (yes, that's "programmes", not "programs", that's the UK way of typing). The website introduced me to alternate histories, but in the TV sense of the term. Example: a situation where Rediffusion continued broadcasting, how the fourth channel would exist before 1982, etc. It too had forums, one of the topics was about trying to rename CITV as "ITV Afterschool". Someone said it was similar to Teen Girl Squad and even put a link. I later went back, I wasn't aware that it was Homestar Runner. The following year I discovered Bug in Mouth Disease on some games sites that even had animations (Craziness.com being an example). However I thought it was uninteresting during the title card and left the page. I browsed Newgrounds a lot back then - particularly the Windows emulators - so yeah. Things changed on February 23, 2007. I was bored and checking the Wikipedia article List of fictional video games or something. That week I had discovered the websites used by fake games within the GTA website. Not just fake games, fake businesses too: Degeneratron, Exsorbeo, Pogo the Monkey, Dormatron, Love Media and so on. And then, to no avail, among the list was an obscure, exotic name I had never seen in my life, and, by extension, never heard: Videlectrix. Me being a little ignorant and all that, I thought it was pronounced VY-delectrix, emphasis on the first syllable because of their oversized V. A website made entirely in Flash featuring games I would never play (Shploitz!) and a handful of demos that were available for us to play. My favorite game on there was Kid Speedy. They already had the Wii section ( Viidelectrix) - guess they predicted the bootleg Vii by a year. The next day, I looked at their article in better detail. I had later clicked on a related link. Turns out that the parent article was about Homestar Runner. Suddenly, I clicked on the site. If I recall, I was greeted with First Time Here?. The newest sbemail at the time was the movies. I also discovered the Wiki and the Fanstuff one, watched the fan 'toons, watched new sbemails as they came, wow. It was like a goldmine by the time I was there. These days Homestar serves as inspiration for groups of users that prefer to put faces over objects, something that infuriates me. But I might be OK with that, I was never into that kind of thing.
