Hargenes is Greek-speaking country located in Southwestern Eris. It is bordered to the northeast by Cartagona, and to the northwest by Armandina. It's populated with around 7 million inhabitans. It was first set up in 1924, and life there was simple. In the early 90's, the Cartagonese army invaded Armandina. The Hargenese authorities, which were in good terms with the latter, helped them in winning the battle. In response to the damages caused partly in Hargenes, Armandinean politician William Graham was elected as prime minister. He's best known for revolutionizing the country's multimedia industry, with corporation of electrip products AIGAIO and national television operator William as footprints of his achievements.
Television
William Television was launched in 1995 as a setellite entertainment TV station operated by the same-named company, a joint venture between the Hargenean gonvernment, then led by the Armandinean William Graham, and Hargenese engineer Peter Valasellis. The latter was operating by then, a small station called Nikaria, which would show on a daily basis programs related to folk music and films (albeit the latter were of poor quality), as well as the history of the country. By contrast, William's programming schedule was composed as a compromised between local programming and outsource productions by giants of the film industry Warner Bros., Universal and MGM, as well as other. Its kids programming block would feature shows by WB and Discovery Kids; the latter became available on Hargenese operators three years later, in respones to high ratings on said block. One of the station's staples in the following decade was an Anime block showcasing such shows as Dragonball, Sailor Moon, Mermaid Melody, Alice Academy and Vandread, as well as a late-night shows; the flagship ones being Antidiaploki (news bulletin hosted by Nick Vasileiou) and Give it All (adult game show hosted by porn actress Penny Eustathiou).
While Hargenese independent operators started flooding with kids, documentary and adult channels in 1998, William would still retain the exclusive rights to films and sports events till 2005, when NOVA Hargenes was introduced by Flarish entertaiment company MultiChoice to the public. The then-new provider's film channels would include films from the increasing film industry of the latter country, leading to a sudden decline in William's ratings.
Due to increasingly good ratings, an additional channel was created for children's shows and anime in 2009, which would battle with Disney Channel Hargenes and Nickelodeon Hargenes.
Private-owned free-to-air TV stations in Hargenes are still operating, despite the increasing interest in cable television. The following years, a new streaming service by Hopese company Heyday is bound to be launched in Hargenes.
