Guys, I decided to make it a thread because the future of my YouTube channel and one of the primary veins of the forum are in jeopardy.
In the past few days, YouTube has been sending mails to basically anyone with a healthy YouTube channel (in my case, it was on Thursday). This is because the COPPA Act will be enacted. Don't know what COPPA is? It's some sort of American act that will protect kids from "unfriendly content".
I first joined YouTube in 2006, but didn't log in as a content creator until 2015. And back then, YouTube was a 4:3 website that still allowed entire episodes of television series, leading to a massive crackdown on copyrighted content in the summer of 2007.
So basically YouTube has witnessed a million changes for the better and for the worse, and recently, worse is the word.
"Depending on the amount of Made for Kids content on your channel, you can set the audience at either the channel level or the video level." There are three levels:
*A lot of made for kids content
*A mix of made for kids and not made for kids content
*No made for kids content
Channels will not be terminated. The prime reasons will be the probability of comments and community sections of entire channels to be disabled, because there seem to be more kids than adults on YouTube nowadays.
It is worth noticing that animation channels and other types of channels that were not intended for kids but have a huge child audience will be the largest victims, meaning that they will either lose viewers or change their content.
RandomMe Entertainment is not strictly a kids channel. I had plans to post a seemingly NSFW song by Tecraudio that YouTube deleted and a few old episodes of Weebl and Bob (because Flash is deader than a doornail in over a year) but now COPPA is ruining my "reputation". Selected videos contain NSFW markers and these will be enforced further in the coming weeks. The law won't be in effect until 2020 at the very least. This law will affect the entire world.
